In 1995, Jim and Fran Barhydt started Vermont Chocolatiers creating handmade chocolates in the heart of the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont to both wholesale and retail Markets. They specialized in making specialty dark chocolate from a blend of three different high quality chocolates.
In 2003 the company was purchased by the Delia Family who moved it to a tastefully done coffee and chocolate house in Northfield Vermont. They expanded the offerings of chocolates to include handmade truffles made fresh daily. They set the standard of using ingredients from Vermont Products such as Vermont Honey, Butter, and Vermont Maple Syrup.
In 2010, Margie and Tony Battaglia purchased the equipment, molds, recipes and trade name, Vermont Chocolatiers, from the Delia’s. We continue to utilize premium quality bulk chocolate and Vermont ingredients wherever possible. Since purchasing the Route 4 Country Store last September, we have been improving the store by working with local contractors, buying equipment locally and adding more Vermont products. And now, Vermont Chocolatiers is located inside the Route 4 Country Store.
You can view fresh homemade chocolates being prepared in our climate controlled windowed room. You can watch our associates making Dark and Milk Chocolate in the tempering machines, and on the enrobing line.
Chocolate making is a fun process to see ….but even more enjoyable is sampling the real taste of chocolate as it is meant to be…fresh!
